Marrickville Road fire: Police set up crime scene

Police have set up a crime scene at an inner west business after a mysterious fire in the early hours of the morning.

A crime scene has been established and police are investigating how a fire started at a Sydney business in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Emergency services rushed to a burger shop on Marrickville Rd at Marrickville about 4.15am following reports a building was alight.

Fire crews worked to put out the blaze but the business suffered minor fire and water damage.

Three crews consisting of 14 firefighters attended the blaze and extinguished it by 5.30am.

Police are unsure how the mysterious fire began as there was no one inside the building at the time.

There have been no reports of injury.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command have established a crime scene and will work to forensically examine what happened.
