Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Kenny Joe Blake is coming to tease, treat and teach Parramatta musos.

Mr Blake will be setting up a music workshop in the Mars Hill Cafe on July 5, and will be teaching his guitar techniques, songwriting and perspective on the industry.

While Mr Blake has a laid-back air about him, the workshop will be very serious and strategic about how to write the kinds of songs that get Grammy nominations.

The event has been organised by the Songwriting Society of Australia as a way of allowing songwriters to develop their talent.

“I am hoping that if I can make these activities self-funding, I can get lots of great musos to entertain us out here in (the) Parramatta region, the new growth centre of Sydney, and our songwriters in Sydney and beyond enjoy their music and garner a few more tools,” society president Peter Scully said.
