Elderly man’s neck broken after dispute over minor car crash

Police would like to speak to this man in relation to an assault on an elderly driver who remains in intensive care with a fractured neck and head injuries after he was punched to the ground.

POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to in relation to an assault outside Dominos Pizza, Strathfield following an altercation over a minor car crash.

A 73-year-old remains in intensive care with a fractured neck and head injuries after he was punched during an argument on The Boulevarde, Strathfield.

Police have now released photos of a man they would like to interview in relation to the incident.

Police said they believed the 73-year-old man was with his wife in his silver Mazda XRC when a white sedan reversed into the back of his car while on The Boulevarde.

Eyewitnesses told police the 73-year-old tried to speak to the female driver when her male passenger got out and became aggressive.

An argument ensued during which the female driver drove away.

Police have been told the older man was then punched to the ground.

The assailant fled from the scene and was last seen running west along Liverpool Rd.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the man on site before taking him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Police have now been told the man sustained a fractured neck and suspected bleeding on the brain.

Last night police from Flemington Local Area Command said they wished to speak with two people they believed could assist with this investigation and appealed to the public for help.

The man is described only as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 30, with a slim to medium build and about 180cm tall. A woman is described only as being of Caucasian appearance.
