Daniel Shane Mills: Alleged graffiti vandal ‘Sire’ to fight police charges

An alleged graffiti menace accused of racking up a significant damage bill after tagging ‘SIRE’ on a number of Sydney trains has told the court he will fight the charges.

An alleged graffiti menace accused of racking up a $5500 damage bill after tagging ‘SIRE’ on a number of trains has told the court he will fight the charges.

Daniel Shane Mills, 35, was all smiles as he left Sydney Downing Centre Court where the matter was listed for hearing next year.

Police say the Newtown man vandalised moving and stationary trains at Eveleigh and Homebush on five occasions between December 2019 and March this year.

Mills has been charged with nine offences in total, including illegally entering Leppington Stabling Yard, owned by Sydney Trains, on February 26.

Mills’ lawyer Michael Doughty told the court video footage of the alleged graffiti vandalism would be played during a four-hour hearing.

The council worker also successfully had his bail varied to report to Newtown police station once a week, after reporting twice since his arrest in July.

The matter will return to court in February.
