THE southeast is being painted gold over the coming weeks with Gold Telethon events, including a Curryoke night and Ladies High Tea.
But the focus is not just on fun with Rainbow St Child Care Centre using the fundraising opportunities to teach the children how the coins they have donated will help other children feel better. Preschool room teacher, Lee Tutty, said the centre hopes to raise $1000 to buy a wheelchair.
"We don't raise a whole lot, but it is important to us that the children are aware of what we are raising the money for," she said.
The centre has their own hospital success story, with student, Ali Green, who was one of the faces of the campaign last year. She had surgery at the hospital to remove part of her brain causing seizures.
