THE buyer of Hollywood actor Simon Baker and Rebecca Rigg’s North Bondi beach pad has been revealed as 29-year-old entrepreneur Simon Hill.

Mr Hill, a director and investor in e-commerce businesses and products, paid more than $3.5 million for the penthouse within two weeks of it hitting the market.

Owner of a Paddington terrace, Mr Hill is swapping the inner-city for the eastern beaches for a lifestyle change.

“I was pretty familiar with property — I’m originally from Melbourne — I had had a look at that property [last time it was listed] and then saw that it came back for sale,” Mr Hill said.

“I actually had an agent door knock on this place a year ago to make a private offer but nobody was home. Then I saw it for sale last week while I was in Bali — I ended up buying it that week.”

Both business and his love of the ocean influenced his move to Sydney in 2014.

“I love being near the ocean which is why I’ve moved closer,” he said.

“Largely at the moment I do eCommerce trade, there are nine or so different brands and we sell those to over 100 countries around world. Last year we started selling into China, a range of products from health products, vitamins and vodka.”

Mr Hill is the director of Australia Market which helps Australian brands break into China. He is also the director of stationery brand Jot it Down and health supplement company Vida Glow and is a partner at Coco Vodka, coconut flavoured vodka product.

Settlement of the property is expected to take place in about 40 days while Mr Hill will be jetting off to Europe in the meantime.

The Hastings Pde property was sold through McGrath Edgecliff’s Ben Collier who could not disclose the final sale price.

It was listed with hopes of $3.5 million and was snatched up within the first two weeks of its campaign.

The unit features views across Bondi Beach, three-bedrooms, and access to an exclusive 118sq m rooftop terrace.

The sale of the property comes after the couple reportedly bought a $6.5 million Bronte house late last year.

They have three children together and have returned to Sydney after living having set up roots in Hollywood.

Big sale for great location

THE Barangaroo penthouse of Swiss hedge-fund manager Ben Melkman has sold.

While the sale price could not be disclosed, it is believed the four-bedder sold for much more than the $10.5 million it went for in 2013.

Melkman has never actually resided in the property, meaning the new owners have snapped themselves up a brand new home in the heart of Barangaroo.

The property was listed with McGrath Edgecliff’s Hamish Robertson and LJ Hooker Double Bay’s Bill Malouf.
