FORGET show through! Men can now feel confident, heroic and invincible in budgie smugglers thanks to a world first design by a Mascot resident.
Australian Active Fashion label BCNU chief executive and designer Paul Zack has released a cutting-edge technology in men’s swimwear after discovering that more than 60 per cent of men did not feel comfortable wearing tight-fitting speedos.
Zack said the thin fabrics used, lack of reasonable hold, and show through when coming out of the water deterred men from donning budgie smugglers.
The BCNU “hero” collection has been engineered using two layers of special high density polyamide fabric.
It has been bonded and moulded using the same bonding agent as NASA in their spacesuits.
The unique fabric looks like neoprene, yet it is more tear resistant and dries faster.
Zack said the swimwear gave men the confidence of a superhero due to the thicker fabric, more support and no more show through.
“The hero swimwear has it all, shape retention, chlorine resistance, and stretch that goes where you go,” Zack said.
“We called it the hero swimwear because we wanted guys to feel quite confident and heroic and to come out of the water feeling like a superhero.
“The cut wraps around your body like a glove keeping your manhood nice and snug and because of the double layer, you don’t get the show through happening.”
The product has been in development for over a year and is now available in four colours.
“Our product is good quality and it’s stylist swimwear,” he said.
“We went out and surveyed Australian men and they told us they steered away from budgie smugglers, and traditional speedos because of the show through factor and the cheap fabrics used.
“This solves a lifelong problem. It’s the next generation of swimwear for men worldwide.”
Fashion stylist and blogger Donny Galella encouraged men in the southeast to support the local designer.
“BCNU has a fantastic new product for men and I can’t wait to wear it,” Galella said.
“Sometimes I don’t feel confident wearing normal men’s swimwear so I can’t wait to wear a pair myself.”
