David Warner and his wife Candice have bought a knockdown in Maroubra
CRICKETER David Warner and his wife Candice have bought an ocean-side knockdown for almost $4 million in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Cricketer David Warner and wife Candice have splashed out almost $4 million on a Maroubra knockdown.
The four-bedroom house on Mermaid Ave was on the market for 12 days before the couple snapped it up on Wednesday, December 2.
McGrath Edgecliff selling agent Simon Exleton said while the price was confidential, it sold for closer to $4 million than its $3.5-$3.75 million price guide.
“We issued six contracts with three serious buyers making offers above the price guide,” Mr Exleton said.
“Dave outbid them … he did everything right and stepped up and secured it.”
Mr Exleton said the couple who are parents to 15-month-old daughter Ivy Mae, had been house hunting for some time and intend to knock down and rebuild the Mermaid Ave home.
They anticipate that it will be a two-year project.
Warner, Falzone and other interested buyers were keen on the property because of its ocean-side location, its almost 900sq m land size and never to be built out views.
The property has views of Lurline Bay and has previous DA approval for a four-level, 550sq m house designed by architects Tobias Partners.
The pair are currently South Coogee residents, having bought a clifftop home in January 2014 for $6.25 million.

The home features panoramic ocean views and was previously owned by property developer Carly Crutchfield and had been tenanted by Kylie Minogue, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and the cast of Jersey Shore.
In October last year, Warner sold his two-bedroom Maroubra apartment for $650,000, five years after buying it as a first homeowner.
