Sydney Fish Market’s GetFish gears up for Christmas rush
Last Christmas, Antonio Muollo, the founder of Sydney’s first exclusive Sydney Fish Market delivery service, GetFish from DeCosti, delivered more than 2 tonnes of prawns and more than 1000 oysters to Sydneysiders. And he expects this season to be 40 per cent busier.
Antonio Muollo is following a long line of generations in the fishing industry.
His grandparents migrated from Italy to New Zealand, where they started their own fishing company before coming to Sydney.
In 2004, his dad bought DeCosti Seafood retail store at Sydney Fish Market, and last year, after having a light bulb moment, the 19-year-old decided he would start Sydney’s first Fish Market delivery service, GetFish.
“It was always a dream, it was always in the back of my head growing up, being present of the online space,” he said.
“One day, I said, ‘I’m just going to do it’.
“We started in September last year, Christmas was the busiest time of the year, we had 1000 orders for Christmas.”
Mr Muollo said the Christmas rush threw him off guard, but after some very long hours, the team got it done.
Ahead of another busy festive season, Mr Muollo said he is expecting a big increase in orders on last December.
He is anticipating to take 1500 orders this Christmas.
“Our predictions are that we will see a 40 per cent increase on last year’s festive season orders,” he said.
