Western Sydney charcoal chicken gurus El Jannah is continuing to expand its wings with a new outlet planned to open in a suburb north of the Harbour Bridge.
El Jannah Chicken has revealed plans to turn a vacant shop in Lindfield into a new restaurant – becoming the 23rd venue in the dining chain and just the second located on the north shore.
The move is expected to add further competition in the charcoal chicken dining scene with Lindfield already home to two nearby chicken shops including Ogalo and KFC.
The new restaurant would be located at 310-312 Pacific Hwy which was previously tenanted by restaurant Capri Cucina before closing.
If approved, the new El Jannah venue would have approval to operate from 6am to 11pm and would employ a mix of full time, part time and casual staff.
Plans to Ku-ring-gai Council stated the development was “compatible with the desired character and amenity of the town centre” and will “contribute positively” to the area.
El Jannah Chicken was founded by Lebanese migrant Andre Estephan who opened his original shop with his sister Samira in 1997 before branching out on his own to found El Jannah with his wife Carole.
The couple are now proud owners of the fast food juggernaut with venues located across NSW, Victoria and the ACT.
Western Sydney still remains the heartland for El Jannah, with the bulk of its stores located west of the Harbour Bridge.
If approved, it would become the second El Jannah restaurant in the north shore region after Crows Nest launched in 2023.
The proposal has been lodged with Ku-ring-gai Council and is currently under assessment.
