Surry Hills Police Area Command officers have charged a 17-year-old man after another man was injured in Haymarket last week.
A 28-year-old man was walking through a pedestrian tunnel at Central Railway Station, Haymarket, about 9.25am on Sunday, February 3, when he was approached by an unknown male.
Police were told the two men had a verbal altercation before the unknown man, who was armed with a knife, slashed the 28-year-old in the face. He then left the scene on a bicycle.
The man suffered facial lacerations and was treated at the scene before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command released CCTV images of a man they believed could assist with injuries.
Following their public appeal, a 17-year-old man was arrested in Surry Hills last night.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, use offensive implement with intent to commit indictable offence and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and will appear at a court today (Wednesday February 6).
