Indie Rock band Sticky Fingers’ lead vocalist and self claimed “chicken enthusiast” Dylan Frost has had a shoplifting charge dropped.
Dylan Frost, 35, faced Downing Centre Local Court sitting at John Maddison Tower on Friday where his shoplifting charge was dismissed after he was accused of stealing a roast chicken and an iced coffee.
Police alleged the incident took place at the Woolworths Metro in Haymarket on June 27, however Frost pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Frost’s girlfriend Elyssa Ford was charged with larceny and possessing a prohibited drug and has entered not guilty pleas.
She allegedly stole a Life Savers Raspberry Stix, worth $1, from the supermarket at the same time and the case has been set for hearing in August.
At Frost’s court appearance Magistrate Megan Greenwood said the charge related to “half a chicken and a milk drink” before she withdrew the charge.
Outside court, Frost told this masthead he felt “f--king fantastic” about the “far fetched” charge being dropped.
“Everybody thinks I’m nickin’ chickens but I was just having a quick little nibble. To be honest, I think Woolies are bullies and Coles are gold. At the end of the day I’m not guilty,” he said.
“If I had put the chicken down my pants and smuggled it out with feathers flying behind me and you could hear a ‘bawk bawk’ it would have been a bit dodgy, you know what I mean?”
Frost said he believed police may have been “bored” when they laid the charge. He said at the time, he and Ford had just come out of a hospital because Ford had a leg injury.
“We were doing the shopping and I just went up to check in on her. I went out the police were just like BOOM and I was like c’mon guys, we’re just trying to get some chicken dude,” he said.
“Look I’m a chicken enthusiast, I love deep fried chicken.”
Sticky Fingers is one of Australia’s biggest bands which peaked around 2015. They’ve earned ARIAA platinum and gold plaques, surpassed one billion streams and sold out several popular venues.
Frost said he would be touring Australia soon but no dates had been scheduled yet. He hinted at a new project he was working on.
“I’ve got a solo album that I’ve been working on for five years, since the start of covid. It’s called Nickin’ Chickens,” he joked.
While Frost could not reveal the album name yet he could confirm “it’s coming in hot” and he was in the process of mastering it so he can provide “air candy” for everyone to enjoy.
