Police have charged almost 200 people and seized a bunch of cash and drugs after conducting a targeted operation against cocaine ‘dial-a-dealer’ networks across Sydney.
Under Strike Force Northrop, Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad (RES) investigators have been investigating and targeting the ongoing supply of cocaine across Sydney since September 2017.
Ahead of the festive season this year, they have charged 187 people, seized more than $250,000 cash and more than 630g of cocaine as part of the operation.
A number of homes were searched across the metropolitan area – including in the suburbs of Kellyville, Narwee, Newtown, Ramsgate, Surry Hills, Woolloomooloo and Zetland – over a period of eight nights in three weeks during November and December.
In total, officers seized more than 633g cocaine, 192g cannabis and 1.2kg cannabis gummies, 61g MDMA, 19g ketamine, 11g heroin, 14g psilocybin mushrooms, LSD tabs and $255,635 cash.
The total estimated potential street value of the drugs seized is more than $280,000.
Investigators charged 101 people with drug supply and charged 82 people with drug possession over the raids.
A further three people were charged with dealing with proceeds of crime, while another was charged over an alleged domestic violence-related incident.
During the crackdown, officers executed a search warrant at a Kellyville home on November 17 where they found 25g of cocaine and $70,595 cash.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the home and charged with two counts of drug supply, supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, and recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime. He is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
On Friday night, officers pulled up a Mitsubishi Outlander on Pitt St in Sydney where they found and seized 21 bags of cocaine and more than $1560 cash.
The 53-year-old Greenacre driver was arrested and charged with two counts of drug supply and dealing with property proceeds of crime to appear in court next Tuesday.
About 45 minutes later, an Audi was stopped by police on Sydney’s Bond St. Officers spoke with two 22-year-old men and searched the vehicle, finding 14 bags of cocaine, 10 MDMA pills and $600 cash.
The driver was arrested and charged with three counts of drug supply and dealing with property proceeds of crime, while the passenger was charged with two counts of drug supply and dealing with property proceeds of crime.
Both men will appear in court next Tuesday, while a third man, who was arrested nearby at the time, was issued a Court Attendance Notice for possessing a prohibited drug.
Investigations under Strike Force Northrop are ongoing.
