Olympian Joel Milburn faces court on cocaine charge
He is best known for sprinting on the track at the world’s top athletics events. But last month he is alleged to have tried to flee from police after being found with cocaine.

Two time Olympian Joel Milburn, a former champion sprinter, has had a run-in with police after allegedly being caught with drugs outside a Surry Hills hotel.
Police will allege Milburn was the latest victim of Strike Force Northrop – a taskforce established to target the supply of cocaine in Sydney’s inner city and eastern suburbs.
The 33-year-old appeared in court on Monday where his lawyer indicated a plea of guilty would be entered at his next appearance in December.
It will be alleged that the Commonwealth Games gold-medallist was outside a hotel on Riley St, Surry Hills about 10pm on Thursday, October 17 when strike force detectives approached him.
Police claim Milburn attempted to flee from officers and a struggle ensued.
During the arrest, he allegedly attempted to dispose of a small plastic bag which police will allege in court contained cocaine.
Milburn was issued with court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug, resist police, and hinder police.
Milburn represented Australia at two Olympics, in Beijing and London, running his personal best time for his pet event the 400m at the 2008 games.
He was part of an Australian 4x400m relay team that won gold at the Delhi Commonwealth Games and bronze at the 2009 World Championship in Berlin.
The matter has been adjourned until December.
