NSW Food Authority: Eateries slapped with food safety fines

Food authorities have released the latest list of NSW eateries to have breached food safety standards. See if your local cafe or restaurant has been named and shamed.

Food safety inspector’s hygiene hack goes viral on TikTok

Bakeries, sushi joints, a craft beer taphouse and a popular BBQ buffet restaurant are among the latest NSW eateries to be named and shamed over food safety and hygiene breaches.

New figures have revealed 24 penalty notices have been served to 16 businesses by council food inspectors during the first four months of this year in towns and suburbs including Wagga Wagga, Bondi, and Bankstown.

The figures come from a ‘name and shame list’ published by the NSW Food Authority which lists businesses that have received infringements relating to food standards.

Many of the fines stemmed from poor hygiene practices with common offences including failing to store food in a way which would prevent contamination, and not taking measures to prevent pests from entering venues.

The list shows some venues were hit with multiple fines during inspections including BBQ City Buffet in Bankstown and Farmhouse Bakery in Leppington – each receiving three penalty notices.

BBQ City in Bankstown is among the venues to receive fines.
