ARMED with bunches of flowers, celebrities Will and Steve plan on sharing a whole bunch of love this Friday.
The winning duo from last year’s My Kitchen Rules cooking show will hand out daffodils at this Friday’s Daffodil Day farmers market in Martin Place.
And if the ladies play their cards right, Steve might just also hand out his phone number.
With a cheeky grin, Steve said he was looking forward to doing whatever it takes to help raise money for the Cancer Council.
“I will even serenade people or take them on dates — whatever it takes to get a gold coin donation from them,” he said.
It’s the second year the English lads have been Daffodil Day ambassadors, and while they intend to have a lot of fun while raising money, they are acutely aware of the very serious side to the fundraiser.
“My wife’s father died from brain cancer when my wife was just four years old, and her mother had to bring up for children on her own, so I know important events like Daffodil Day are,” he said.
The pair say the event is always a good way for people to open up and discuss cancer because most people have been affected by it in some way.
Through their involvement with the Cancer Council, the pair recently met Joan, a 93-year-old volunteer who helps support people going through breast cancer, just as she has.
“She is a truly remarkable woman, a real battler and someone who gives her all to help others,’’ he said.
The Daffodil Day farmers market will be set up in the middle of Martin Place from 6am to 6pm.
You can buy fresh daffodils and pins to show support for everyone affected by cancer, listen to live music, and watch out for the celebrity ambassadors who will be roaming about.
And for the first time, you can also text to donate and if you do so in Martin Place, you’ll have the opportunity to dedicate a virtual daffodil to someone you know and see your dedication come up live on the 10 metre big screen.
