The drug shame of Matthew Bodley, 33, was revealed shortly after joining seven other men on a Woolloomooloo street about lunch time on Friday, February 19.
Court documents state police officers had been watching the group and after the men piled into a rental van and drove off, police almost immediately pulled the vehicle as they were suspicious of drug behaviour.
Each man was physically searched by police with no drugs located, until the investigation shifted focus to the group’s luggage.
The police facts state when they looked through Bodley’s bag they found two vials of GBL, eight MDMA capsules and five resealable bags of ice, weighing about 3.2g. When Bodley was asked about each quantity of illegal drug, he denied having any knowledge of its existence.
In Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday Bodley’s lawyer entered a plea of guilty to drug supply in relation to GBL, with two charges of possessing ice and MDMA to be taken into account on sentence.
The court heard the 33-year-old wished to take part in the MERIT treatment program which supports adults with issues related to drug use and alcohol.
The man was given the green light by Downing Centre Local Court in April to change his bail conditions from is Potts Point home to the south coast hamlet of Callala Bay
The matter will return to court in November.
