A drunken Christmas adventure to the city has delivered much more than hangover for 22-year-old Liam Foote, after he couldn’t resist the urge to film his mate’s arrest.

The Wentworth Falls man had boozed away the Saturday afternoon of November 23, 2019 when he, along with Zane Saatjian and a third man, came across one of Sydney’s biggest Christmas celebrations – the lighting of the CBD Christmas tree.

Liam Foote, 22, has been sentenced for filming his pal's drunken arrest in Sydney.

Police facts reveal Foote caused a scene inside the Louis Vuitton store about 6.15pm before being booted out by security.

Not long after, Saatjian stole a traffic cone and stormed the stage set up for the festive extravaganza in Martin Place.

As police rushed to arrest the stage invader, a drunken Foote began filming his mate’s arrest and shoved his phone in the face of the arresting officers.

Court documents state police officers were forced to shove the 22-year-old away as the laughing man “was making the job of police harder in what was already a violent and volatile situation.”

As Foote continued to laugh and film, ignoring repeated instructions from police officers to step back, he was also placed under arrest. He pleaded guilty to hindering police in July.

His lawyer told Downing Centre Local Court in sentencing on Tuesday that “ (Foote) was being a pest” and “had learnt from this particular experience”.

The unemployed electrician was sentenced to an 18-month conditional release order without conviction. In January, Saatjian was fined $500 and placed on an 18-month conditional release order for his crimes.
