There were tears in court as a stripper-turned-rapper was handcuffed and led to the cells for her part in an inner city pub fight.
Jessica ‘The Jackel’ Aitchison, 27, who once won Miss Nude Sydney, was given 18 months jail for the bust up at the Burdekin Hotel in the early hours of July 29 2018.
She launched a plastic cup at the face of legal secretary Lauren Cameron, permanently disfiguring her.
Her then tattoo artist beau Reece Mobbs, 30, was also sentenced to an intensive corrections order for a period of eight months, for his part in the incident.
While at previous court appearances the pair had sat together and supported each other, they noticeably sat apart and didn’t speak at the Downing Centre for their sentencing on Thursday morning.
Aitchison was joined by her mother, who hugged her daughter and wept as she was cuffed and led away by police officers.
She kissed her mother on the cheek and consoled her. As her mother left the courtroom, she pointed angrily at Mobbs, which he waved off.
Aitchison’s legal team appealed the severity of the sentence and she was granted conditional bail to stay at her Maroubra home, once her passport has been surrendered.
The court had previously heard Aitchison threw a plastic cup in the face of legal secretary Ms Cameron after she overheard her making disparaging comments about “female Soundcloud rappers”.
The plastic cup split the lip of Ms Cameron, and the 1cm deep cut required specialist plastic surgery and 16 sutures.
Mobbs, defending his then six-week pregnant girlfriend, yelled at Ms Cameron calling her a “slut” and spat in her direction, with witnesses saying it landed on the victim’s chest.
During an earlier hearing, the court found Ms Cameron’s friends Amy Absalom and Franz Schrammel – Aitchison’s ex-boyfriend – to be “credible” witnesses.
Mobbs initially pleaded not guilty and then guilty to common assault while Aitchison was found guilty of reckless wounding.
In handing down her decision, Magistrate Joan Margaret Baptie said Ms Cameron still has pain in her lip and that her face is permanently disfigured.
Mobbs, who was accompanied at court by two men, was handed an intensive corrections order for a period of 8 months, any breach of which will land him in full-time custody.
“The offender is a tall and well-muscled man. The act of spitting is particularly offensive,” Magistrate Baptie said.
Both Aitchison and Mobbs stated the pregnancy added to their stress, emotions and reactions.
Mr Mobbs’ defence stated that his grandfather, a father figure to him, was ill at the time, and that his business had recently failed.
The court also heard that Aitchison suffered PTSD from a botched boob job about six years ago, which led to lifesaving emergency surgery.
