Jacqueline O’Brien: Enmore woman pleads guilty to drug importation

An unsuspecting inner west mum has confessed to her shock role in the importation of liquid ecstasy.

Australia's Growing Drug Crisis

An inner west mum has confessed to importing GBL, also known as liquid ecstasy, into Sydney.

Jacqueline Frances O’Brien, 54, pleaded guilty to the importation of a marketable quantity of a border-controlled drug between August and September 2020 at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

Guilty pleas were also entered to the possession of ice and ketamine.

The court has previously heard, when O’Brien was granted bail last October, the importation was allegedly executed through the postal service and was to be delivered to a Newtown address.

O’Brien’s lawyer said the facts of the crime were agreed, but there was a “dispute to the fact sheet”.

The Enmore woman will be sentenced on the drug importation charge in the District Court, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years jail, later this year.
