Forest Lodge man charged with selling restricted substance at Sydney CBD tobacco store

A man has been charged after police allegedly seized 578 boxes of prescription drugs from a Sydney tobacco store.

A 32-year-old man has been charged after more than 57,000mg of prescription drugs were allegedly found in Sydney tobacco store.

NSW Police started an investigation on Wednesday, following reports the prescribed restricted substance was allegedly being sold from a tobacco store in the Sydney CBD.

Officers carried out a search warrant at the store premises yesterday afternoon.

Police found 578 boxes containing 100mg of a prescribed restricted substance, electronic storage devices, a passport and other documentation.

The medication has an estimated potential street value of $10,000.

The Forest Lodge man was arrested at the store and taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with restricted substance sold by non-wholesaler, and two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on February 22, 2023.

NSW Police said inquiries were continuing.
