Fresh data released by NSW Health has revealed the number of COVID-19 cases at postcode level for the first time.
The latest statistics as of Thursday afternoon show 120 cases of the potentially deadly disease have been confirmed as residents of the City of Sydney local government area.
That mark is the third highest in the state behind only the Northern Beaches (124) and Waverley (151) council areas.
Drilling down to a hyper-local level the data reveals the postcodes of 2010 and 2011 have the highest concentration of cases in the City of Sydney with 22 each.
Those postcodes include the suburbs of Darlinghurst and Surry Hills (2010) and Rushcutters Bay, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay and Woolloomooloo (2011).
Next is the 2000 postcode – with 11 coronavirus patients – taking in the CBD, The Rocks, Millers Point, Dawes Point, Haymarket and Barangaroo.
NSW’s total count rose by 116 in the 24 hours from 8pm Tuesday, March 31, which took the tally to 2,298 cases.
More than 108,000 NSW residents have been tested and excluded from having COVID-19 so far.
