A serving member of the Australian Defence Force is standing trial over allegations he squeezed a woman’s buttocks, touched her thigh and was later found asleep naked in her bed.

Trooper Andrew John Green, 31, has pleaded not guilty to the charges relating to events which allegedly occurred while he was on detachment last year.

His hearing on Monday was told the prosecution will allege Green squeezed the woman’s buttocks in a stairwell after a night out drinking.

The court was also told it is alleged Green, based at Holsworthy in southwest Sydney, later went into a room where the woman was on the bed, locked the door behind him and touched her inner left thigh without her consent.

A short time later, it is alleged, Green was located in her room sleeping naked in the bed.

Green denies the allegations.

On the first day of his trial on Monday a recorded interview from the day after the alleged incident was played.

During the interview Green was pressed on the events which allegedly took place in the early hours of the morning, stating “it was a bit of a blur”.

“It is a bit hard to deny that,” Green was heard telling investigators when asked why he was found in the woman’s room asleep.

“But I was solidly under the impression that it (the bedroom) was mine.”

In the same interview, Green told investigators he had no interaction with any women that night other than the ones he knew and worked with.

Green and his co-workers went out to a pub and were drinking beers before the alleged interactions, the court was told.

He denies grabbing the woman’s buttocks and touching her thigh and said he did not know who she was.

“I didn’t do it … I don’t know who did,” he said in the interview.

Green has pleaded not guilty to one count each of assault, an act of indecency or assault in the alternative and prejudicial conduct.

The trial is expected to hear from 18 prosecution witnesses and will run until Friday.

The trial before Defence Magistrate Commander Gregory Sirtes continues.
