Two men allegedly involved in the shooting death of former Lone Wolf bikie Yusuf Nazlioglu will defend murder charges at trial set down for early next year.

Abdulrahman Mohamed Atteya and Mohammed Hosni Khaled appeared before Justice Helen Wilson in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday almost two years after Nazlioglu was gunned down while parking his car in the underground carpark of a high-rise apartment block at Rhodes.

Neither man is accused of firing the fatal shots that killed Nazlioglu – rather, police allege they played a vital role in planning and co-ordinating the underworld hit.

Atteya was arrested by homicide Squad detectives last June and taken to Liverpool police station where he was charged with a single count of murder.

Khaled was arrested at his home in Blair Athol two months earlier. He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and also charged with murder.

The Daily Telegraph previously reported Homicide Squad boss Danny Doherty said police will allege Khaled carried out surveillance before the hit on Nazlioglu, and was then involved in setting fire to multiple vehicles allegedly used in the murder alight afterwards.

Justice Wilson told the court on Friday the earliest trial date for the pair would be in February 2025.

The court heard the matter of a third man charged with Nazlioglu’s murder was still in the local court and he would potentially join Atteya and Hosni for trial next year.

Hosni’s lawyer Sam Abbas said the matter shouldn’t be “held up” before the pair formally entered not guilty pleas.

Justice Wilson indicated the trial was estimated to take seven weeks and offered both Mr Abbas and Atteya’s lawyer Talal Krayem a date in February.

However, Mr Krayem said there was “difficulty” with a trial that early, given the sheer volume of evidence the men’s respective legal teams had to review.

Mr Abbas agreed, saying the “size of the brief” was enormous.

Justice Wilson ultimately set down the trial for April 7, 2025.
