The highly anticipated $200m redevelopment of Wyong Hospital has reached a major milestone.
The six-storey clinical services building reached its highest point today, with the topping out ceremony attracting a visit from Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
Ms Berejiklian visited the site and said the major redevelopment was on track and would provide first class health services to the coast.
“The $200m Wyong Hospital redevelopment will not only increase health service capacity for the local community, it is also boosting employment for the region,” she said.
“This redevelopment has created more than 800 construction jobs, with more than 650 of those workers living locally.”
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the hospital would have 60 extra inpatient beds.
Central Coast Parliamentary Secretary Adam Crouch said the redevelopment was vital for the projected population increase across the region, with more than 95,000 people set to move to the area by 2041.
The six storey clinical services building will include a new emergency department, intensive care unit, psychiatric emergency care centre, ambulatory paediatric unit and an expanded medical assessment unit.
