According to the environmental impact statement lodged as part of the application process, The Central Coast Local Health District already provides hospital and health services to 200,000 residents and this is expected to rise to rise by 17.6% by 2027 to reach a total of 373,284 people.

“The health district is forecasting a significant increase in health service demand in the Wyong area due to a growing and ageing population and evolving health care needs,” the documents said.

“Wyong Hospital is currently experiencing significant limitations in its ability to meet health services demand of the local population.

“In addition, coupled with the existing accessibility constraints to health services in the Wyong area and the Central Coast generally, health services demand in the Wyong area is forecast to increase overall significantly.

“The existing Wyong Hospital in its current configuration is at capacity, with several facilities that do not enable the delivery of efficient contemporary models of health care. The projected growth in health care demand therefore necessitates the need for development.”

There were no objections to the proposal although traffic, road safety, parking and tree removal were raised but later addressed in the final plan.
