WHILE the chocolate and nougat are undeniably amazing, The Factory at West Gosford has another hidden gem on its premises.
The Factory’s cafe has emerged as a popular location for a simple, fresh meal full of flavour, with some amazing sweet choices showcasing their fine products.
Manager Paula Nedelcu said since opening the retail store and cafe patisserie last July, they have quickly learned what coast residents like to eat.
“Our menu is simple, fresh and vibrant; it’s food that we eat,” she said.
“Our pastries are baked fresh every morning, as well as our savoury tarts. We do breakfast, brunch and lunch, and source our ingredients locally.”
The menu packs a punch, with options such as Avocado Affair bursting off the page, with fresh avocado, feta, sun-dried tomato and pepitas on sourdough bread, brought together beautifully with fresh mint.
The Country Style Hot Pan, served in a mini frying pan, included eggs, bacon, potato and a hint of chilli, brought together with melted cheese. Served with freshly toasted sourdough, it is a true breakfast for champions.
We had to try one of the famous waffle baskets, opting for the banoffee flavour with
Peruvian caramel, vanilla bean ice cream, banana, crushed almonds and pistachios. This sweet tooth will be back to try the other flavours including lemon meringue, hazelino, apple pie and berrylicious.
The Australian confectionery producers of Bon Bon Fine Chocolate, Nougat Limar and The Sydney Marshmallow Co have been based at the Jusfrute Drive premises since 2002.
The team are gearing up to host their first We Are The Makers — Easter Fair to be held over Easter weekend on April 20 and 21. The event will include kids chocolate workshops, local food stalls, artisan markets and live music.
Ms Nedelcu said the fair was aimed at bringing the community together.
“Not many people knew we were here and making Australian confectionary,” she said.
“We want to bring the community together and include other local producers.”
The Factory also run tours and regular children’s chocolate workshops, where they learn how to mould and decorate chocolate.
“It’s all about children having fun, and they get to keep what they make as well as receiving a chocolate medal,” she said.
