Warren James Ross will face trial in October after pleading not guilty to three counts of common assault in Gosford District Court.

The 37-year-old was arraigned on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to assaulting two young girls between June 1 and August 31 in 2011 at Watanobbi.

His barrister filed an application to have the trial heard before a judge alone, telling the court there was “a lot of legal concerns that would affect a jury but would not affect a judge”.

The court heard the trial would be listed for five days but could be shorter if it was before a judge alone.

Appearing from Goulburn Correctional Centre, Ross took notes and said nothing during his matter’s brief mention.

Judge Tanya Bright set the matter down for pre-trial argument on August 13 and fixed a trial date for October 6.
