Watanobbi: Russel Rajapakse pleads not guilty to stabbing murder of Corey Breceljnik

Almost two years after the alleged stabbing murder of Central Coast dad Corey Breceljnik, a man has entered pleas of not guilty.

The man charged over the alleged murder of Central Coast dad Corey Breceljnik has entered pleas before the court.

Russel Rajapakse, of Mannering Park, appeared at Wyong Local Court on Tuesday via audio visual link.

He entered pleas of not guilty to charges of murder and aggravated assault with intent to rob with wounding causing grievous bodily harm.

Rajapakse entered the pleas before Magistrate Kirralee Perry with the matter sent to the Supreme Court of NSW.

Emergency services were called to a home on Slim Cl about 11.30pm on October 26 2020 where Mr Breceljnik was found with stab wounds to his chest and face.

Police will allege that the father-of-two went outside to take a phone call when he was attacked.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken in a critical condition to John Hunter Hospital, where he later died.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into Mr Breceljnik’s death was launched by officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police and assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following inquiries, detectives conducted a search warrant at a house in Minnamurra Rd, Gorokan on October 28.

Officers arrested Rajapakse, aged 28 at the time, at the premises and he was later taken to Wyong Police Station.

Rajapakse was arrested and faced court three days later on October 29 2020. He has been refused bail since that time and will appear before the Supreme Court of NSW on October 7 2022.
