A Central Coast solicitor has fronted a Sydney court after being charged with allegedly carrying out a sexual act towards another person without consent.

Bradley Meade Kernick, 53, of Watanobbi, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis in Downing Centre Local Court on Friday.

Mr Kernick’s solicitor, John Sutton, entered a plea of not guilty on his client’s behalf to one count of carrying out a sexual act with another without consent.

Charge sheets tendered to court allege the incident occurred in front of a woman between 8.45pm and 9pm on September 18 last year at Watanobbi.

“The accused did carry out a sexual act, to wit, got naked and fondled his penis, with another, without consent,” the charge sheets allege.

He wasn’t arrested and charged until May 10 this year before being granted conditional bail.

On Friday police also made an application to carry out a forensic procedure, understood to be a DNA swab, but the application was withdrawn and refused because of an error in the form.

Mr Kernick’s website for his Wyong-based firm Kernick Law, before it was closed for maintenance, stated he was a NSW Police officer and member of the Australian Federal Police before becoming a lawyer.

It stated Mr Kernick worked as a prosecutor for then WorkCover NSW and then with the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions before going into private practice.

“Brad’s experience of ‘working on both sides’ of the law, assists in him obtaining the best possible outcome for his clients,” his website stated.

“It is important to get the right advice early, as there may be no second chances in some cases.”

Mr Kernick returns to court on July 12.
