Victim set upon by four males in brazen assault

TWO teenagers have been charged after a man had his face smashed as he walked along Railway St at Woy Woy Tuesday evening.
Police said the 36-year-old was walking towards the crossing near the train station when he was approached by four young males at 5.50pm.
As the group approached the man, a 14-year-old boy allegedly began to throw punches, hitting the man several times.
The man attempted to walk away when he was struck in the side of the head by a 15-year-old boy, causing him to fall onto the gutter of the footpath and the group of teenagers fled the scene.
Emergency services were called and the man was treated for multiple facial fractures before being taken to Gosford Hospital, where he was expected to undergo surgery.
Brisbane Water police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, two teenagers were arrested yesterday and taken to Gosford Police Station.
The 14-year-old boy was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and affray.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court today.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with common assault and affray.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court on Friday, December 22.
Investigations are continuing.
