A 96-year-old woman has sustained head and leg injuries when she was run over by a vehicle in her Umina Beach driveway.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was called by NSW Ambulance paramedics shortly before midday from the Westmead hangar and landed 20 minutes later on Umina Oval.

Paramedics had provided initial treatment for the woman and transported her to the park to meet CareFlight’s clinical team.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and a NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the woman, including an ultrasound to examine her head and limb injuries.

The clinical team continued providing care as the woman was flown in a stable condition to Royal North Shore Hospital.

It is the second time in a week a person has been run over in their own driveway after a boy was injured at Killarney Vale when a car reversed into him.

Emergency services were called to a home on Thomas Mitchell Drive, at Killarney Vale, about 4.20pm on Tuesday following reports a boy had been struck by a reversing car.

The four-year-old was treated at the scene and later taken by road ambulance to John Hunter Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
