Two men, aged 42 and 56, charged with drug, stolen property and firearms offences after arrests at Lake Haven, Canton Beach

A Ford Ranger stolen five months ago, along with weapons, drugs and cash have been seized after two men were arrested during separate raids on the Central Coast. Here’s what we know.

A man has been charged with allegedly stealing a Ford Ranger five months ago, along with possessing drugs and firearms following an investigation by Tuggerah Lakes Police.

In December 2023, Tuggerah Lakes Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation into an alleged break and enter at a home at Bateau Bay, in which a Ford Ranger utility was stolen.

Following an extensive investigation, officers raided a home on Crossingham St, Canton Beach, about 4pm on Friday, May 25.

During a search of a property, police located and seized the allegedly stolen Ford Ranger utility, in addition to a prohibited firearm, ammunition and multiple prohibited drugs.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with:

- possess prohibited drug (two counts),

- goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle),

- goods suspected stolen in/on premises (motor vehicle),

- drive, licence suspended under s 66 Fines Act,

- larceny,

- possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority,

- possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm, and

- not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited.

He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Saturday, May 25.

CANNABIS, WEAPONS SEIZED AT LAKE HAVEN

Meanwhile another man, 56, was expected to face court on Friday, May 24, after firearms and cannabis were seized from a home at Lake Haven.

Tuggerah Lakes Police conducted a search at a house on Inderan Ave about 12pm on Thursday, May 23.

Police seized three unregistered rifles, more than 300g of cannabis leaf, six cannabis plants, a flick knife, laser pointer, expandable baton, a firework, $29,000 in cash, a mobile phone and other items related to the supply of prohibited drugs.

A 56-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Wyong Police Station.

He was charged with 15 offences:

- Three counts of possess unregistered firearm – not pistol/prohibited firearm

- Three counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit

- Not keep firearm safely – not pistol/prohibited firearm

- Deal with property proceeds of crime

- Possess more than three unregistered firearms without licence/permit

- Handle explosive/precursor without authorising licence

- Supply prohibited drug

- Cultivate prohibited plant

- Two counts of possess prohibited drug

- Possess prohibited plant

The man was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Friday, May 24.

Police will allege in court the man was involved in the supply of cannabis in Batemans Bay.

It will further be alleged the man possessed a bag containing seven resealable bags of cannabis leaf, cannabis hash, cannabis oil and several resealable bags containing cannabis seeds. Police seized the bag and its contents.

Police allege the man had possession of more 500g of cannabis leaf.
