Tuggerah: Daniel Anthony Gooley exposed himself twice, shocking onlookers

A man has faced court after exposing himself in public twice in one day and performing an act so shocking it prompted one tradie to jump in his car and “flee”. WARNING: Graphic content.

A man shocked onlookers when he pulled down his pants and “aggressively” used a sex toy twice in one day, a court has heard.

Daniel Anthony Gooley, 33, of Watanobbi, faced Wyong Local Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty at an earlier appearance to two counts of exposing himself in public.

An agreed set of facts states a man pulled into the Metro service station at Doyalson on November 11, 2024, when he saw Gooley sitting in the passenger seat of a silver BMW “peering out of the window”.

After filling his car with fuel, the witness went to retrieve his phone when he saw Gooley was now bent over the passenger seat with the door open and his pants down exposing himself.

Gooley, who the facts states works with horses, has then proceeded to repeatedly use the sex toy.

The shocked witness went inside the servo to pay but went back outside to confront Gooley.

“Mate, I saw what you’ve done. F--k off,” the witness said.

Gooley shut the passenger door, got in the driver’s seat before fumbling to put the car into gear and drove away.

Nearly 18 hours later on the same day, a tradie was walking to his car in Tuggerah when he saw Gooley drive past.

As the tradie neared his car, he noticed Gooley had pulled up and was getting out of his vehicle.

Gooley then turned around, dropped his pants and again used the sex toy for about 20 seconds until the witness jumped in his car to “flee”.

As he was driving away the tradie rang his wife to call the police and noticed Gooley was following him.

The tradie pulled over to confront Gooley, who got out and started doing it again.

“It was at this time [the victim] has noticed a group of about four children walking in the area,” the facts state.

“This is around the time children are normally in the area as the ... skate park is around the corner.”

After his initial shock and fear turned to anger, the tradie “exchanged words” with Gooley who got back in his car and left.

Police attended the scene and after a brief search found Gooley sitting in his car nearby.

He initially denied being at the Metro at all or having the sex toy but later admitted he exposed himself to the second victim.

He was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he participated in an electronically recorded interview where he denied using the sex toy.

“However, he made admission to pulling his pants down and slapping the [sex toy] on his backside towards [the second victim],” the facts state.

The court heard Gooley had been assessed as suitable to attend the Magistrate’s Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) rehabilitation program for drug abuse and was adjourned to June 18.
