A Gorokan man has been severely bashed and robbed by four men at Gorokan less than a week after two teens were carjacked and robbed in similar circumstances at nearby Lake Haven.
Young dad Trent Dyer, 27, said he suffered broken nose and ribs in the attack in Valenicia Street around 10.30pm on Saturday night (September 28) as he walked toward the waterfront to check on fishing conditions.
“I was walking on the footpath and they drove passed, they chucked a U-turn up the street and then they came back and drove back passed again and stopped about five houses up in front of me,” Mr Dyer said.
“They screamed out “you’re a dead c**t” — the driver pulled over and let thee of them got out and they come down yelling at me,” he said.
“I ended up running straight to some lady’s house on Valenica Street and banged on the door and tried to scream out for help but she didn’t open the door — which I don’t blame her at that time of night.
“I was screaming out for help in the street — someone help me, help, help, but that didn’t stop them.”
Mr Dyer said he was knocked to the ground where his attackers continued to assault him while going through his pockets and stealing his wallet and $150 in cash.
“If I was was 16 or 17 they would have ended up killing me or putting me in hospital — they were big men and I only weigh 62 kilos,” he said.
“I might have understood if I done something wrong, but all I wanted to do was go down and see if it was OK to fish.”
Mr Dyer said he took down the number plate of the car when it drove off before running to his nearby home where he thought he would be safe.
The following morning he said he reported the incident to police.
He said he had not gone to hospital because his nose had stopped bleeding and he believed that “not much could be done about a broken nose anyway”.
Lake Haven carjacking
Police are already investigating after two teenagers were carjacked at Lake Haven last week.
About 12.30am on Monday, September 23, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were approaching their black Mitsubishi Lancer parked in a car park on Lake Haven Drive, Lake Haven, when a red SUV pulled up a short distance away.
Police were told a man got out of the SUV, approached the 18-year-old and threatened him with a knife before stealing the man’s phone, wallet, neck chain and car keys before returning to the red SUV.
Police said a second man got out of the car and stole the girl’s mobile phone before getting in the Mitsubishi; both cars then left the scene in a southerly direction on Lake Haven Drive.
The pair ran to Lake Haven Hungry Jacks nearby and contacted police.
Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District arrived a short time later and started an investigation.
The men are described as being of caucasian appearance, aged in their early 20s, tall with thin builds.
Tuggerah Lakes Police said they were investigating the assault on Trent Dyer but did not believe the two incidents were linked. They said they were waiting for more information from Mr Dyer.
