When the Central Coast Express Advocate put the call out for our readers to tell us their favourite snippers, it was not a cut-and-dry affair.
There were hundreds of nominations, and thousands of votes — to put it simply, we were blown away.
It’s clear from your comments that the Central Coast has a real love affair with those to whom they trust their tresses.
And the relationship between client, cutter and colourist is so much more than just a business transaction.
Most of you didn’t even talk about the haircut or the style. You talked about the person holding the scissors. How well they listen. How they make their customers feel special.
They’ve helped you through breakups and been guests at your weddings. And, there is no questioning their passion, with the word cropping up consistently.
So — did your favourite hairdresser make the cut?
10. Mohican Hair, Tuggerah
Mohican Hair received votes for their friendly, welcoming nature and great atmosphere at the salon as well as their in-depth knowledge in all things hair.
Sam said the salon was “beautiful” and the staff were the “friendliest bunch of girls who really look after you and make you feel special”.
Kellie said the team were “amazing at getting your hair the perfect colour”.
“So friendly and gives the salon such a welcoming, fun vibe,” she said.
Laura said the salon team were “very talented girls”.
“Professional and (I) always walk out happy,” she added.
Long time client Racheal summed it up best; she said her salon experience “always makes me feel beautiful when leaving”.

9. EQUAL PLACE: Styles In Silk, Gosford & Studio N, Erina Heights
Styles in Silk, Gosford
Jay and Cressida from Styles In Silk have lots of fans in Gosford and further afield. Locals valued their creativity, professionalism and the fact that both always go the extra mile for their clients.
Danielle said she “cannot fault them at all”.
“Their customer service is unreal, and on top of this are amazing at hair,” she said.
Deborah said Cressida goes “above and beyond every single visit”.
“She loves her craft and always wants her client to leave happy,” she said.
Rachael said the duo “bring my creative ideas to life”.
“When I go there, I feel like I am catching up with friends,” she said.

Studio N, Erina Heights
Clients of the Erina Heights salon love that it’s environmentally conscious and uses sustainable products. They are also fiercely proud of their talented hairdressers.
Lauren said Nico is “fun, thoughtful and talented”.
Long time client Chris said hairdresser Caity was “the best”.
“She has a good eye for colour and she’s a gorgeous person,” she said.
Melita said Grace does “the perfect cut every time”, while Kathy said Jasmin and the rest of the Studio N team were “always professional, friendly and really take care of you.”
As Terri put it: “You don’t just get your hair done, you become part of the family.”

7. Milk & Honey Hair and Beauty, Gosford
Milk & Honey have a salon in Erina and another hair and beauty salon in Gosford. Clients cited the friendly staff and the salon’s great vibe as some of the reasons why this is their favourite spot to have their hair done.
Shannon said her hairdresser Danielle is “amazing at what she does”.
“Her hair colour knowledge is outstanding,” she said.
Leanne gave the salon five stars for its customer service.
“Dani and her team make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door,” she said.
Danielle said her stylist Jess is “so personable and professional”.
“I always feel a million bucks when I leave the salon,” she said.

6. Salt Hair Collective, Avoca Beach
Salt Hair was noted for its caring and friendly staff that pride themselves on continually learning.
The salon has many loyal clients such as Sharyn.
“I walk in looking my 56 years, and walk out with amazing hair, happy and looking hot and about 35,” she said.
Annmaree said the team “makes it feel like you’re at a friend’s place”.
Debbie had high praise for hairdresser Sarah:
“She listens to me and sometimes guides me to step outside my comfort zone, always with a great result,” she said.
Karla had three words about the team: “Makes magic happen.”

There is plenty of love for the team from Chic Hair & Co.
Sandi said her hairdresser Amanda was “superwoman”, while Jennifer said the whole team were “amazing at what they do but they also treat us like family”.
Keira said she “wouldn’t go anywhere else”.
“Fabulous service from the moment you walk in and enjoyable experience,” she said.
Kirstie said Hannah is “the best in the business”.
“I have really curly hair and she is the best, and best colourist,” she said.

Pure Hair Design, Long Jetty
Georgie from Pure Hair Design has plenty of fans. She had many votes for her kind, caring and easygoing nature coupled with her talent, skills and attention to detail.
Abbey said Georgie was “the most amazing hair(dresser) I have been to yet”.
“Absolutely amazing hairdresser, great customer service,” she said.
Angela said Georgie was “always so warm and welcoming”.
“She offers great hair advice and my hair always looks and feels great,” she said.
Sarah has been a client at the Long Jetty salon for some time.
“Georgia is an amazing hairdresser, her passion for the job shines through with the brilliant work she creates,” she said.

3. Sizzor Trix, Mannering Park
The loyal clients of Sizzor Trix love the work of Bec and Jen. Many have been going to the Mannering Park salon for a decade or more, and adore the duo’s professionalism, their down to earth nature and that they are great listeners.
Louise said the pair make her feel welcome and “always have good advice about styles and products”.
Amanda said she leaves the salon feeling “great after having a good laugh with the girls”.
Lynn said at Sizzor Trix you “walk in feeling blah, walk out feeling fabulous”.
“They listen, advise and know your hair as well as you do,” she said.
2. KMF Hair Studio, West Gosford
KMF Hair Studio owner Kyra has won many fans over the years, wowing clients with her selfless, kind nature, attention to detail and talent.
We all want a hairdresser that will help us achieve our hair dreams but also be honest about what will work — and Kyra’s clients say that’s exactly what she does.
“Kyra knows what/how I like my hair,” Chris said.
“If I want a different style she tells me her honest opinion.”
Cameron said for all things hair, Kyra is the girl to see.
“Kyra is nothing but professional and amazing at what she does,” he said.
Like many clients, Jasmine praised Kyra for understanding her hair needs.
“Kyra is the first hairdresser who has listened to what I wanted and delivered! She really listens,” she said.
Jenna said she “couldn’t recommend her higher to anybody”.
“Kyra is clearly passionate about hair and it shows through her amazing work,” she said.

1. Glamorous Hair & Co, Hamlyn Terrace
It’s official — in a tough competition of excellent contenders, Glamorous Hair & Co have come out on top and been crowned the best hairdressers on the Central Coast.
So what makes this Hamlyn Terrace salon so great? Clients say Luci and her team of dedicated hairdressers are hard workers, up to date with the latest trends and provide a lovely atmosphere and experience.
Kay said salon owner Luci Mills was “awesome” and “nothing is too difficult to do”, while Peta said the whole team “make you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door”.
Many clients like Piper said they are always happy with the results.
“Every time I go they do an amazing job, it’s exactly what I want, or even better,” she said.
Luci started hairdressing at 14 and was attracted to the glamour of the industry.
“(I) always wanted to be a hairdresser,” she said.

She started her business nine years ago from her home and a year ago opened the salon on Hamlyn Terrace.
In just a year, business has grown fast — she now employs four staff in the busy salon and to top it all off she has now been named the best hairdresser on the Central Coast.
