The Bon Pavilion is planning to add some spark into Gosford’s nightlife.

Plans have been lodged to increase the entertainment facilities and night options at the popular destination owned by John Singleton.

The Bon 2019 Pty Ltd has lodged plans to Central Coast Council to change the use of The Bon Pavilion at 159 Mann Street from a restaurant to a bar and incorporate more music options on Friday and Saturday nights.

The plans, which are currently on exhibition, include “minor internal fit out works” and upgrades to include removal of the cafe at the front of the venue along with the change in use to allow customers to buy a drink without having to order a meal.

“The proposal will maintain the existing character and quality of the Bon Pavilion, with some internal upgrades, and the use will continue to involve a substantial restaurant component as currently exists,” the plans state.

Work will include removal of the cafe area, relocation of the bar towards Mann St, expansion of bar, changes to seating arrangements as well as minor changes to the back of house facilities and toilets. There are no external works proposed.

Subject to approval of the latest plans, The Bon plans to apply for a hotel license – general bar license.

“The application does not propose any gaming machines or TAB facilities, and limited and low-key entertainment is proposed between 8pm and 11pm Friday and Saturday nights, once patrons have finished dinner,” the plans state.

“The entertainment includes either taped music, a DJ or up to two live musicians, and will be carried out in an informal way, clearing seating under the main staircase.

“During times that music is being played it is proposed that the front entry concertina doors to Mann Street would be either closed or no more than one quarter open.”

Security will also be beefed up with CCTV and access control measures.

“The proposal also includes security personnel on Friday and Saturday nights to manage patrons leaving the premises in order to minimise any impacts on nearby residential properties … it is likely that any future liquor license for the premises would also include acoustic requirements in order to minimise any impacts on nearby residential properties.”

The plans reveal that The Bon Pavilion was originally approved by council as a tavern and eventually changed to a restaurant.

Prior to the redevelopment, the site was home to Dutton’s Tavern.
