Final touches are underway for the Terrigal Boardwalk.
The boardwalk has been a hot topic among locals and tourists who will be able to access it in just a few weeks.
Central Coast Parliamentary Secretary Adam Crouch said the boardwalk would be a “major tourism drawcard”.
He said hardwood decking boards had been installed along the entire length of the 277-metre walkway.
“Over the next month, LED lighting will be installed within the hardwood handrail, electrical work will be undertaken, a hardwood bench will be installed at the viewing platform and concreting will connect the boardwalk to the existing footpath at The Haven,” he said.
“Every part of the boardwalk has been designed to complement the natural environment and will be composed of materials that can withstand the elements to ensure its longevity into the future.”
Mr Crouch said the boardwalk would improve access between The Esplanade and The Haven, while the revamped rock pool is also nearing completion with new foundations and walls, disability-accessible ramp and a pathway linking the pool to boardwalk.
The boardwalk was expected to be complete by the end of summer, but has been delayed due to intermittent weather and delays in sourcing equipment from overseas due to COVID. It is expected to be completed within six weeks.

The pylons are in and some of the elevated sections of Terrigal Boardwalk are starting to provide a glimpse of what the $3 million project will look like when it’s finished in January next
The top car park on Terrigal Esplanade was closed for two up to weeks on Tuesday as Central Coast Council reminds visitors and locals to keep safety top-of-mind if heading to Terrigal these school holidays.
Council is advising anyone visiting the area to follow all signage and directions and adhere to the latest COVID-19 restrictions, while pedestrian and vehicle access around the construction site will be managed by traffic control.
The new boardwalk will significantly improve pedestrian access between Terrigal Beach promenade and The Haven, providing a safe and more accessible route around the headland and new attraction for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Restoration works to the rockpool include the replacement of the rockpool foundations and walls, construction of an access ramp to replace the existing stairs and linking this area with the new boardwalk and existing pathways.
The worksite was established at the end of March with construction underway by the end of April 2020.
The 277m-long boardwalk has been designed to complement the natural environment and includes a viewing platform, integrated seating, lighting and access to the rock platforms.
The works are due for completion by early January 2021, however this may be impacted by weather or other unforeseen events.
The $5.88 million Terrigal Boardwalk project is jointly funded by Central Coast Council ($2.9 million) and the NSW Government’s Restart NSW Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund ($2.98 million).
The Terrigal rockpool renovation project has been funded with a $250,000 grant from the state government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
