Teens to face court after allegedly crashing a stolen car and fleeing

THREE teenagers will face court today after allegedly crashing a stolen car and kicking a police dog on the NSW Central Coast.

THREE teenagers will face court today after allegedly crashing a stolen car and kicking a police dog.

Members of the public rang police about 11.50pm last night to report a black Mitsubishi Challenger SUV allegedly driving without lights in the Gosford area.

Shortly afterwards, Brisbane Water police saw the car travelling south on Manns Road at West Gosford.

When the car was at the intersection of Central Coast Highway, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to stop it.

The driver of the Mitsubishi allegedly failed to stop and drove off towards Kariong. The officers did not initiate a pursuit of the vehicle.

The allegedly stolen Mitsubishi was located a short time later, crashed into a barrier on the Central Coast Highway half way up the hill.

Three males allegedly ran from the scene into nearby bushland and a 19-year-old woman was arrested in the vehicle.

Following a search with the assistance of the Dog Unit, a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested a short time later, however a third male fled the scene.

All three were taken to Gosford police station.

The 19-year-old man was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, being carried in stolen car, a previous aggravated break and enter and cruelty to animals after he allegedly kicked a police dog during his arrest.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with being carried in a stolen car and breaching bail.

The 19-year-old woman was charged with being carried in a stolen car, breaching bail and a previous stealing offence.

All three were refused bail with the man and the woman to appear at Gosford Local Court today and the boy is due to appear at a Children’s Court today as well.

Investigations are continuing and police are appealing for information about the third male.
