While most people her age are starting to enjoy the easing of lockdown restrictions, third-year apprentice hairdresser Tahlia Milojevic has been ordered off the booze and illegal drugs for 18 months for assault, intimidation and malicious damage.

The 21-year-old was also lucky to escape without further penalties after she was given no convictions for possessing 1.06g of cocaine and resisting arrest.

A set of agreed facts tendered to Wyong Local Court on Tuesday states the bad blood between the Milojevic’s and the Vanderzwan’s began in 2016 when Tahlia’s younger sister Tamara got in a fight with Jayde Vanderzwan’s younger sister Brooke.

The agreed facts state Tahlia “jumped in to help her sister”.

“Since that time there has been animosity between the parties,” the facts read.

“Over the past four years the offender had intermittently posted items on social media directly mentioning the victim’s name and requesting information in relation to trying to identify the victim’s home address.”

About 8pm on December 16, 2019, Jayde Vanderzwan was at her Hamlyn Terrace address when one of her housemates came running in yelling “Tahlia is here” and “Tahlia wants to fight you”.

Jayde Vanderzwan said: “I am not going out the front, tell her to go away I don’t want anything to do with her.”

Ms Vanderzwan rang triple-0 and her housemate went out to talk to Milojevic.

The facts state when the housemate went back inside Milojevic followed and upon learning Ms Vanderzwan was on the phone to police, snatched it out of her hand.

“Both the offender and the victim fell over onto the floor into the victim’s bedroom,” the facts read.

“They were rolling around. The offender was hitting the victim’s face with her hands. The victim felt a punch to her nose and forehead area. This physical altercation went for approximately 30 seconds.”

Another male roommate pulled Milojevic off Ms Vanderzwan and carried her outside where the facts state she smashed the phone on the road before getting into a car with two friends, who had brought her to the address.

As Ms Vanderzwan was back on a different phone to police, Milojevic returned in the car and yelled “get her out the front again”.

But by now police arrived and placed Milojevic under arrest.

She was taken to Wyong Hospital to provide a blood sample and later taken to Wyong Police Station where she declined to be interviewed.

Milojevic, of Wyong, was charged with entering a building to commit an indictable offence, common assault and intentionally destroying Ms Vanderzwan’s iPhone 8.

She pleaded guilty to the offences and the court heard Milojevic struggled with binge-drinking and lost her third year apprenticeship because of COVID-19.

The court heard she was affected by alcohol and that binge-drinking was a contributing factor to her offending.

Her Legal Aid solicitor said “unfortunately she has had a bit of time on her hands” when she was picked up again intoxicated at 10.50pm on May 22 by police at Wyong.

The court heard she was swearing at officers and “thrashing around violently” when they went to arrest her.

She was charged with resisting arrest and later found to have 1.06g of cocaine in her possession.

She pleaded guilty to both offences.

Magistrate Elizabeth Ellis put her on a conditional release order for nine months without conviction for possessing the prohibited drug and resisting arrest.

However she convicted Milojevic of entering Ms Vanderzwan’s address with intent to commit an indictable offence, common assault, intimidation and intentionally destroying her property.

Ms Ellis put her on a conditional release order for 18 months for these offences, with supervision and the added conditions she abstain from drugs or alcohol.

She told Milojevic she needed to stay off alcohol to avoid ending up back before the courts.
