Central Coast cruised to victory in the final of the inaugural 2019-20 Greater Hunter under-12 representative cricket competition.
Central Coast were the strong favourites in the final, only dropping one match (last week) during the season proper, which just happened to be against their grand final opposition, Hunter Valley.
Hunter Valley won the toss and batted in Sunday’s match at Adcock Park, West Gosford.
They got the worst start possible, to be in deep trouble at 8/26. A minor recovery saw Hunter Valley total 56 in the 33rd over. Central Coast lost an early wicket but a great second wicket partnership from Raj Sharma (21 not out) and Koby Smith (31 not out) saw Central Coast score a convincing win.
Smith was named player of the competition after very strong performances with the bat and the wicketkeeper gloves.
Coach Stuart Owen was full of praise for the young players, who started training together in August and also won a T20 competition recently.
