Ettalong Eagle Isabella de Vivo nominated for Local Sports Stars after stellar rep netball season

IT’S one thing to be a good player on court but to be a good person off it is something that is harder to achieve. Isabella de Vivo is doing her best on and off the court and her efforts are paying dividends.

IT’S one thing to be a good player on court but to be a good person off it is something that is harder to achieve but very beneficial to the club and association.

Isabella de Vivo is a quality representative netballer with an extremely bright future but she is also lauded for her commitment and effort off the court as well.

She is the Express Advocate’s Local Sports Stars nominee for this week.

Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association president Lisa Coakley said de Vivo always led by example and was always available to assist her club and others when needed.

“She loves the game is a great role model for the younger players,” Coakley said.

“She also gives back to the association and the community by being an assistant coach and has dedicated her afternoons to training an under 10s team.

“Isabella also umpires throughout the season and she was named junior club person of the year which is the highest junior honour at her club.”

The talented 15-year-old is a member of the WWPNA under-17s representative team and plays for the top grade senior Ettalong Eagles Club side.

She is an athlete at the Central Coast Academy of Sport and is part of the elite Central Coast Heart Metro League squad.

Some of her other honours include Ettalong junior club player of the year (2016), Brisbane Water Secondary College junior sports girl of the year (2016), CCAS certificate of excellence and Combined High School rep player.

Despite initial reservations de Vivo has been playing since she was seven years old and now loves the sport with a passion.

“I love intensity and atmosphere of the sport and how it is continually growing, the pathways for furthering my Netball are excellent,” she said.

The rising star said making rep squads was a big achievement for her.

“(This) has given me the pathway of being chosen to represent Central Coast Heart in the Metro League,” she said.

“This was a big highlight and to receive a spot in the first team, I was extremely proud and all my hard work had paid off.”

Not wanting to take her foot off the accelerator, de Vivo has set high goals for this season and beyond.

“I want to win the academy games for CCAS and to work hard and play well in the Metro League,” she said.

“This will be a big year for netball and for me and then I’ll try out for the under-20s Heart team for 2018. One day I’d love to play for the NSW Swifts and to represent Australia.”
