A young couple have pleaded guilty to a raft of drug offences two years after police established a strike force to investigate the supply of steroids on the Central Coast.

Shaylee Cheal, 26, and Hayden Brindle, 30, both from Wamberal, faced Gosford Local Court on Friday where they formally entered pleas to multiple charges of importing and supplying steroids and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Their conditional bail was continued and they were both adjourned to appear at Gosford District Court on November 4 to set a date for their sentencing.

Their pleas came two years after Brisbane Water Police established Strike Force Oldaker in October 2019 to investigate the importation and supply of steroids on the coast.

As a result of inquiries, several parcels were intercepted by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers at the Sydney Gateway Facility at Clyde.

Cheal pleaded guilty to importing 50 ampoules of human growth hormone Somatropin, 400 ampoules of the anabolic steroid Drostanolone Propionate and 1900 tablets of the erectile dysfunction drug Tadalafil between October and December 2019, which were intercepted by ABF officers in Sydney.

She also pleaded guilty to possessing steroids and human growth hormone after the couple were pulled over having collected a number of parcels from Erina Post Office on January 30, 2020.

A subsequent search warrant was conducted at their Wamberal unit where police seized various steroids and MDMA.

Cheal pleaded guilty to a further eight offences including two counts of supplying steroids, testosterone and MDMA on an ongoing basis and dealing with the proceeds of crime after police seized a Western Union money order for $1890.58.

Brindle pleaded guilty to 26 offences including importing steroids and human growth hormones, which were intercepted by ABF officers in Sydney.

Among the charges he pleaded guilty to included supplying 73g of MDMA, 8g of cocaine and the ongoing supply of prohibited anabolic steroids between October 2018 and August 2019.

In December 2019 Brindle offered to supply 1000 tablets of Oxymetholone and another substance to a person identified as “G” for $2600.

“The accused states he needed to sell it to buy a motorcycle off a friend,” charge sheets state.

The following month Brindle offered to supply a further 1000 Oxymetholone tablets and 120mL of testosterone for $2500.

“The accused offered to supply these at cost price as he had to pay his mortgage and did not have enough funds in the bank,” charge sheets, to which Brindle pleaded guilty, state.

He also pleaded guilty to knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime totalling $127,000 between May 2018 and January last year.

Despite their guilty pleas there has been no agreed facts tendered on the court file.
