New details in the case of a young man from the Upper Hunter, charged with allegedly having sex with two girls, aged 17, at Green Point last year, have been revealed in court.

A 19-year-old man from Scone was excused from appearing at Gosford Local Court when his matter was first listed on Thursday.

Jack Gunton was represented by a lawyer who appeared via video link on his behalf.

Mr Gunton was arrested by officers from the Hunter Valley Police District on October 8 and taken to Muswellbrook Police Station where he was charged with eight counts of sexual intercourse without consent.

It came after officers from Brisbane Water Police District commenced an investigation following reports two girls, both aged 17, were sexually assaulted in separate incidents at a Green Point home last year.

In charge sheets tendered to court, police allege Mr Gunton had sexual intercourse with one victim four times between 12am and 3am without the victim’s consent.

Police further allege in the charge sheets Mr Gunton had sexual intercourse with a second victim four times between 1am and 3am on the same night.

His solicitor sought brief orders to be made and the matter was adjourned to January 14.

The police prosecutor sought an interim apprehended violence order preventing Mr Gunton from having any contact with the two girls.

He was also excused from appearing at his next mention date if legally represented.
