Richard Reid: Edgecliff doctor hit with new sex assault charges
A prominent eastern Sydney former gynaecologist is facing fresh charges after two more women came forward alleging the doctor had sexually assaulted them during consults.

A prominent former eastern Sydney gynaecologist and obstetrician has been hit with a string of additional sexual assault charges after two other women came forward.
Police allege 77-year-old former doctor Richard Reid sexually assaulted three women on different occasions over more than a decade at his Edgecliff practice.
Previously a Newcastle University associate professor, Reid was in September charged with aggravated sexual assaults after police allege the doctor interfered with a 64-year-old former patient during consults.
The woman allegedly told police she had been sexually assaulted on several occasions while receiving treatment between 2010 and 2014.
Now, investigators have laid seven additional charges after two other women – who were aged 28 and 25 at the time of the alleged offences – allege they too were sexually assaulted by Reid.
The Woongarrah man now faces 15 charges in total, all of which were mentioned briefly before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
Reid did not appear in the court room to face the fresh allegations, with prosecutors requesting a six week adjournment.
He remains on bail to live at his Central Coast home and the matter will return to court on July 9.
Police will allege in court the doctor sexually and indecently assaulted the young women on several occasions during consults between 2000 and 2001.

The fresh charges include five counts of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under authority and two counts of aggravated indecent assault.
The former doctor has since retired and lives on at Toukley on the Central Coast with his current wife, who is from the Philippines.
During Reid’s bail hearing in September, the court heard that the some of the allegations brought by police relate to “kissing and rubbing of the breast” of the 64-year-old patient.
He is currently on bail after his wife put up a $50,000 surety in September to secure his release.
