A female pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle on the Central Coast.

Emergency services were called at 8.55pm on Wednesday, January 17, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a Haval SUV.

The 49-year-old woman was treated at the scene – about 450m north of London Drive – paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old man, was uninjured.

The site of the crash is north of the industrial area on the western side of the highway, which includes Wadalba McDonalds and the Wyong Mazda dealership, and features a relatively isolated sweeping bend.

There is no street lighting and no footpath on either side of the highway at the location and it is not known why the woman was there.

Diversions were put in place for several hours between Johns Rd in the south and Minnesota Rd in the north.

A spokesman said the Haval driver was assisting police with their inquiries but no charges had been laid.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
