Patonga Boathouse hotel reopens after renovation
This just might be the ultimate Central Coast pub experience with great food and drink options and one of the most uniquely beautiful settings in the region.
A Central Coast pub that’s been better known to the Sydney boating set than to many Coasties reopened today after a major renovation.
Patonga Boathouse was bought by Northern Beaches power couple Andrew and Pip Goldsmith in 2017 for more than $10 million and they almost immediately began making plans for serious makeover.
The Goldsmiths are the creative and business brains behind the Boat House Group which operates several venues at Palm Beach, Shelly Beach and Balmoral, as well as Moby Dicks Whale Beach.
Among the changes people will see at Patonga are the disappearance of the quirky 1980s bar which was replaced for more efficient service.
The unusual curved bar was formerly the centrepiece of the Sydney Hilton Hotel’s America’s Cup Bar and was sold via eBay auction earlier this year.
It was a popular spot for Sydney drinkers from the 1970s, and when Australia memorably won the America’s Cup in 1983, drinkers at the hotel rushed to grab souvenirs as the bar was briefly renamed Australia’s Cup Bar in the middle of the afternoon.
The new-look hotel, however, is set to cater for modern dining tastes.
“We are really happy with the new look and feel, overall the venue will be much brighter and lighter and takes advantage of the surrounding natural beauty”, Creative Director of The Boathouse Group Pip Goldsmith said.
The venue will feature a large food and beverage offering, Boathouse inspired interiors, improvements to the bar with 17 different beers, an outdoor deck and refreshed guestrooms.
There is also a “takeaway store” which will offer fish and chips along with more Boathouse favourites, and the venue will also offer small events.
“We are very lucky to be part of this very special beachside fishing village. We hope the Hotel will be worth the journey by car or Ferry”, said Andrew Goldsmith, owner of The Boathouse Group.
“It’s a classic waterside pub with a restaurant and we hope it will become a destination for Coasties,” he said.
for those not keen on the drive home, or looking for a weekend away, upstairs accommodation will be available starting in the New Year.
The guestrooms include one, two and three bedroom options. All rooms have a balcony with waterfront views. The guestrooms are perfect for a family summer holiday or a weekend getaway for two.
The Hotel will open Monday and Tuesday for breakfast and (7am — 4pm) and then on Wednesday to Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner (7am to 10pm)
