Paddy Gerrard is back on Central Coast breakfast radio in 2020

There was an uproar when his contract wasn’t renewed on Central Coast breakfast radio two years ago. Now he’s back.

Two years after being dumped from Central Coast breakfast radio, Paddy Gerrard is back.

It was November 2017 when Gerrard and his 2GO co-host Sarah King were told their contracts would not be renewed, after a combined 45 years of breakfast radio.

This morning it was announced on the very same radio station – now The Central Coast’s 107.7 Triple M – that Gerrard will host the breakfast show with Rob Palmer in 2020.

Palmer’s former co-host Mandy Coolen left Triple M earlier this month after two years on the breakfast shift.

Gerrard said there were no hard feelings after what was an emotional departure two years ago.

“That’s radio. It’s nothing against your ability ever; they might just try something different,” he said.

He added that he was looking forward to finally being able to talk about his new role.

“I apologise to all those people whose calls and texts I wouldn’t answer because I just couldn’t tell anyone,” Gerrard said.

“I didn’t fib; I just couldn’t say anything.”

The Central Coast local is looking forward to driving “around the corner” to work again, when he starts back at Gosford in the new year.

“I’ve been commuting for 20 months and I’ve got a new-found respect for people who commute – absolutely,” Gerrard said.

He has been freelancing on air and as a producer at Sydney and Newcastle radio stations.

“I had to make sure I had the right swipe card wherever I was going,” Gerrard said with a laugh.

“Working at three stations in a day – I never thought I’d do that but I did.”

The father of three said he was looking forward to getting his weekends back.

“Come January, holy geezus, I’m back home,” he said.

Paddy & Rob Palmer for Breakfast will be on air from January 13.
