Two off duty police officers will start the New Year catching lifts after being charged with drink driving on the Central Coast.
A 46-year-old senior constable - attached to a specialist command - was stopped by Tuggerah Lakes Highway Patrol officers on Virginia Rd, Hamlyn Terrace, just after 5pm on New Year’s Eve.
She was arrested after returning a positive reading at a roadside breath test, and an analysis at Wyong Police Station returned an alleged reading of 0.09 - almost double the legal limit.
Her licence was suspended and her employment status with NSW Police is under review after she was charged with mid range drink driving.
She is to appear at Wyong Local Court on January 23.
About 9pm on Friday, officers attached to Brisbane Water Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on Ocean View Dr at Wamberal for a random breath test.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, was arrested after returning a positive reading.
The off duty senior constable, attached to a command within the North West Metropolitan Region, returned an alleged reading of 0.078 when he was taken to Terrigal Police Station for a breath analysis.
His licence was suspended and he was issued with a traffic infringement notice for low range drink driving.
The man’s employment status is under review.
