A man will face trial after pleading not guilty to the alleged stabbing murder of another man, who police allege was known to him, in 2023.

Tristan Sherrin-Hill, 31, of Umina Beach, faced Gosford Local Court on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to murdering Daniel Bruns.

Emergency services were called to the car park of Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club off Trafalgar Ave about 3.15am on Monday, October 16, following reports of a stabbing.

Brisbane Water Police attended and discovered the body of Mr Bruns, aged in his 40s, slumped in the driver’s seat of a blue SUV with multiple stab wounds.

Police will allege about 7.30am, Mr Sherrin-Hill presented to Gosford Police Station with lacerations and was taken into custody before being transported to Gosford Hospital for treatment and remained under police guard.

After being discharged he was taken to Gosford Police Station where he declined to participate in an electronically recorded interview and was charged with Mr Bruns’ alleged murder.

Police will allege in court the two men were “known to each other” and Mr Sherrin-Hill allegedly stabbed Mr Bruns in the car park some time between 1.30am and 1.43am before his body was found more than an hour later.

Mr Sherrin-Hill’s lawyer did not apply for his client’s bail and it was refused.
